The V7768 is a VMEbus single board computer
from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, offering up to
2.16 GHz of processing speed via the Intel Core 2
Duo processor with up to 2 Gbyte DDR2 SDRAM.
This board integrates the Intel 945GME Express
Chipset and offers a very rich I/O set, making this
a very flexible addition to our expansive line of
Intel architecture VME SBCs. I/O options include
dual Gigabit Ethernet, two SATA interfaces, four
USB 2.0 ports, keyboard/mouse/SVGA on the
front panel, as well as a PCI-X capable PMC site.
The V7768 also offers a Celeron® M processor
option that allows for 20 more degrees on the
upper operating temperature limit.
The V7768 provides further customer defined I/O
capabilities with the board-to-board connector
for the PMC237CM1/V PMC expansion board
from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, which gives
customers three additional PMC expansion sites
in addition to the PCI-X PMC site on the V7768.

The V7768 dual slot VME single board computer (SBC) provides system designers with the flexibility to cost-effectively accommodate extensive and varied I/O functionality, while delivering outstanding processing performance.
Flexibility and ease of use
One of the first products from Abaco Systems to leverage the power of Intel’s dual core architecture, the V7768 offers up to 2.16 GHz of processing speed via the Intel Core 2 Duo processor along with the Intel 945GME Express Chipset and a rich I/O set. To make installation and maintenance easier, the V7768 incorporates the EasyRail PMC mounting system to allow PMC option boards to be mounted when access is only available from the exposed “top” side. No longer having to detach multi-slot carrier assemblies to gain access to the PMC mounting screws significantly reduces configuration time.
The hardware of PLC controller itself adopts the building block structure, and the product structure of each manufacturer is much the same. Take Omron C200HE as an example, which is a bus template frame structure. The basic frame (CPU motherboard) is equipped with CPU templates, and other slots are equipped with I/O templates; If there are many I/O templates, the CPU motherboard can be connected to the I/O expansion motherboard through the I/O expansion cable, and the I/O template can be installed on it; Another method is to equip remote I/O slave station, etc. All these show that PLC manufacturers develop all hardware components for users, which is convenient for users to select and configure into PLCs of different scales. Moreover, the openness of this hardware configuration brings a lot of convenience to manufacturers, distributors (agents), system integrators, and end users, and brings great convenience to the marketing supply chain. This is a great successful experience.

In addition to the general DI/DO and AD/DA templates, a series of I/O templates with special functions have also been developed for I/O templates in PLC, which opens the way for PLC to be used in various industries, such as ASCII/BASIC templates for barcode recognition, PID templates for feedback control, high-speed counting templates for operation control and mechanical processing, single axis position control templates, dual axis position control templates, cam locator templates, radio frequency identification interface templates, etc, This will continue to grow considerably in the future. In addition, the input and output related components, the input and output electrical isolation, ground isolation and other aspects of strong interference will also be more perfect.

The CPU in the PLC cooperates with the memory to complete the control function. It is different from the DCS system that deals with temperature, pressure, flow and other parameters. It adopts a fast scanning cycle, which is generally 0.1~0.2s. The faster one uses a scanning cycle of 50ms or less. It is a digital sampling control system.
