The central processing unit (CPU) of PLC is generally composed of controller, arithmetic unit and register. These circuits are integrated in a chip. The CPU is connected with the storage unit and input/output interface circuit through data bus, address bus and control bus.

Receive and store programs and data input by users through input devices such as programmers.
