The General Electric Direct Current Power Supply and Instrumentation Board DS200SDCIG2AHB serves as an interface to DC2000 model drives. The DS200SDCIG2AHB is prone to be damaged by static electricity. However, there are some general rules you can follow to avoid the damage caused by charges of static. Until you install the board keep the board in the static protective package and touch it on an unpainted metal surface, which could be the drive or other device or structure. Let it touch the metal surface for 2 seconds to let the static drain off the board.
Don’t keep the board outside of the static-protective package. Just place it directly in the drive to reduce the opportunity for static build up. Also, hold the board by the outside edges and never touch the components or the solder.
Removing the defective board requires a few necessary steps to in order to prevent electric shock, electric burn, or a safety hazard. Make sure that all current is removed from the drive before you touch any components inside the drive. Follow the shutdown procedure as established for your site and to verify that all current is removed, use a current tester.
Open the door on the drive to access the printed circuit boards, including the DS200SDCIG2AHB. You will notice that one board is blocking access to the DS200SDCIG2AHB. You can pull down two locking mechanisms to tilt forward the blocking board and gain access to the DS200SDCIG2AHB. Before you remove the board disconnect all cables.
